SterilizAir is the next generation sterilization technology, which combines world's most advanced accelerated oxidation method with hypersonic wave. It completely and quickly removes unpleasant odors and eradicates bacteria, viruses, and harmful substances that are both airborne and attached to the surface by strongly oxidizes organic ROS and OH radicals just by using a small amount of air (including moisture (H2O) and oxygen (O) in the air) and electricity.

Organic ROS and OH radicals are redissolved into water and oxygen, so they are environmentally friendly and can be used to maintain environmental hygiene in various facilities. They are also used in agriculture and fishery industries.

Highly evaluated as “the latest sterilization and decontamination technology”, SterilizAir eradicates pathogens, prevents transmission of infectious diseases, and removes offensive odors from an interior space. It reduces the risk of infection, the amount of work required for sterilization and decontamination, and it significantly reduces the cost of maintaining hygiene.

SterilizAir’s Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) technology was developed in the beginning of 2000, and it was used in large food factories in the United States to sterilize food and equipment from bacteria and other harmful substances. The technology was also used to preserve freshness as it can suppress the generation of ethylene gas, which causes food to degrade and decay.

The initial purpose of the research and development of the technology was to create a countermeasure against chemical and biological weapons used in CB terror, but the purpose later shifted to create a non-chlorine-based disinfectant and decontaminant. Compared to the conventional CBRN decontamination, which uses chlorine-based disinfectant or decontaminant like potassium hypochlorite, this technology has a wider application range. It quickly eradicates bacteria and viruses, and also decomposes harmful substances using its strong and fast oxidizing power. It is harmless to the human body, causes less damage to the equipment, and does not cause corrosion of metal equipment.

SterilizAir’s Advanced Oxidation Process is a game-changing technology that transformed the conventional paradigm by generating the multi-gas plasma of organic ROS with strong oxidizing power using only a little amount of air and electricity.

It is harmless to the human body and the environment since it uses no chemical substances, and it is used by the US military for sterilizing and decontaminating military aircrafts, ships, and bases.

Global Catastrophic Biological Risk due to new strains and multidrug-resistant bacteria

SterilizAir can significantly reduce the risks of infection by continuously cleaning airborne bacteria from an interior environment, and bacteria attached to a surface within that area, without causing harm to people. It effectively oxidizes the cell wall in reaction to bacteria and viruses by completely destroying and killing the cell nucleus. No antibodies are produced and there are no RNA/DNA-resistant mutations.

1. An innovative hypersonic reactor

SterilizAir’s innovative hypersonic reactor simultaneously generates organic ROS species and an abundant amount of highly-dense and highly-active OH radicals. 2. SterilizAir’s distinctive spectrums

SterilizAir’s innovative system completely destroys cell membranes of many microorganisms like bacteria, viruses, and moulds, and also stops the enzymatic process of microorganisms, which is necessary for them to survive, by utilizing a small amount of air (including moisture (H2O) and oxygen (O) in the air), and a proprietary reactor that combines and fuses organic ROS, OH radicals, and hypersonic. Differences in air-cleaning methods

【Filter】Filter removes fine particles in the air, but it cannot eradicate microorganisms like bacteria and viruses.

【Ultraviolet ray】Ultraviolet ray effectively eradicates bacteria and viruses within the radiation range, but it cannot eradicate airborne bacteria and viruses inside the room, walls, furniture, and microorganisms attached to the surface of the equipment.

【Ozone】Ozone air-cleaning requires a high concentration of 3PPM to eradicate bacteria and viruses completely, but highly concentrated ozone causes harmful respiratory effect on the human body, so it cannot be used when the room is occupied.

【Photocatalytic oxidation】Photocatalytic oxidation effectively eradicates pathogens that pass through the device, but it cannot eradicate the airborne bacteria and viruses inside the room, walls, furniture, and microorganisms attached to the surface of the equipment.

【Hydro-peroxide mist】Vaporized hydro-peroxide mist is known to have high sterilizing effect, but it is toxic and harmful to the human body. It cannot be used when the room is occupied, and is expensive as it requires a high operational cost.

4. Evaluation of sterilization of microorganisms attached to various surfaces such as beds, doors, bathrooms, and objects in medical facilities (bacteria, viruses, protozoa, etc.)

SterilizAir completely kills bacteria and viruses that are airborne or attached to surfaces, including walls, floors, ceilings, furniture, equipment, etc., and it also removes bacteria and moulds that cause offensive odors. It also removes medical ethylene odors and it has been used in various American medical facilities to maintain hygiene and a more pleasant environment for people’s use. It has been proved that it is effective against 30 HAI pathogens and it reduces over 4 logs of bacteria, viruses, and protozoa in 30 minutes (refer to Figure 4).

5. SterilizAiris an innovative product that combines the world’s most advanced OH radical multi-gas generator with ultrasonic waves, and is the world’s first next generation air-cleaning method.

*The name of this product; SterilizAir, is derived from the word “sterilization”.

OH radicals are known for having stronger oxidizing power than ozone. Numerous studies across the world on multi-gasification of reactive oxygen species such as OH radicals have demonstrated that this method also has higher sterilizing power and higher reaction rate and effect than ozone.

The main factors of reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated by plasma that contribute to sterilization are Hydroxy groups (OH), singlet oxygen (O2), ozone (O3), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), etc., but the conventional devices with this approach have limitations on the type of plasma gas and temperature of the plasma, causing carbon dioxide and nitrogen plasmas; which have a very high sterilizing effect, to disappear instantly after they are generated by those devices, so they cannot be used substantially.

The combined use of an OH radical generator and ultrasonic waves (with specific frequency and wattage) increases the amount of plasma generation, and produces plasma with high density and high activity, which improves the processing efficiency and speed dramatically. The reactor, which combines an OH radical generator and a proprietary ultrasonic wave generator, has been downsized to implement the Advanced Oxidation Process System.

Most splash-type bacteria and airborne bacteria fall to the floor and exist there for one to seven days, and this causes the risk of infection to increase as these bacteria move repeatedly due to the airflow caused by people’s activities in an indoor area. The space inside SterilizAir also works as a cleaning chamber that immediately removes bacteria from the air as it is sucked into the device. It then blows out clean air with reactive oxygen species multi-gas plasma using its fan and ultrasonic waves (at a speed of 340m / second) to effectively removes airborne bacteria and bacteria that are attached to surfaces. SterilizAir’s system can significantly reduce the risks of infection by continuously cleaning airborne bacteria from an indoor environment, and bacteria attached to a surface within that area, while being harmless to people.

SterilizAir (patented) is perhaps the most practical air-cleaning device exists. It is easy to install and use (no installation work is required; just turn ON/OFF the power switch), and it has a wide application range and scope of use. This air-cleaning system removes bacteria and viruses and decontaminates harmful substances safely without producing any second products.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology, Germany (Fraunhofer IGB) used this environmental friendly technology to treat wastewater and decompose pesticides, dioxins, environmental hormones, etc., which all cannot be decomposed with chlorine or ozone alone. Several tests conducted in England, France, and Holland, and it was proved that the quality of wastewater treated and filtered with this technology is similar with the quality of the tap water in those countries. Thus, this system can also be applied diversely for other environmental measures, including water treatment, final waste disposal, leached water treatment, cohesion improvement, improvement of fish farm’s water quality, etc.

■In gyms and medical clinics

Different from the use in actual site, and not a result of an experiment under certain conditions like closed and narrow laboratory, it is a situation of the effective area of pathogen sterilization and the adjacent untreated space in an actual site where doors are opened with many people going in and out.
Even under such continuous recontamination, SterilizAir-ROS eradicates 96.8% airborne bacteria and 97.9% of bacteria attached to the surfaces.
